DEFENCE SPECIAL OPERATIONS TRAINING & EDUCATION CENTRE

DSOTEC required specialist Moodle Learning Management System (LMS), Instructional Design and multimedia expertise to redevelop its extant suite of face to face courses to provide flexible blended learning options. We applied adult learning principles and designed interactive courses including assessment and supporting resources.

INTRODUCTION TO AUSTRALIAN MARITIME DOCTRINE

Training Authority – Initial Training and Leadership Management required a video to provide an introductory overview of Australian Maritime Doctrine for new entrant Navy Officers. Secondary audiences include new Government Ministers and general public. Topics include:

SAFETY RISK ASSESSMENT TRAINING AUTHORITY SAFETY AND SEAWORTHINESS

This Moodle course was requested to aid the Defence enterprise level transition to a new safety risk assessment process. The course uses guided scenario based learning to explore the core concepts, principles and practical application of safety risk management.

OCEANLINX WAVE GENERATOR

The deployment of a drone for aerial video capture documenting the intricate re one physical standards required to successfully complete selection. Topics include: – moval procedure, serving as a valuable tool for evidence, media documentation, and compliance purposes. The use of a drone provided a comprehensive visual record of the operation, contributing to transparency and accountability in the management of the decommissioned wave generator.

DISABLED SUBMARINE RESCUE TRAINING AUTHORITY SUBMARINES

For the crew of a disabled submarine, escape or rescue are the only options for survival. The RAN uses the LR5 submersible rescue vessel, operated by James Fisher Australia, to provide the submarine rescue capability. This courseware provides submariners with an overview of the rescue procedures and reconstruction of an incident for learning purposes. Topics include:

INFRASTRUCTURE NSW (iNSW)

The Hawkesbury Nepean Valley Flood Risk Management Strategy consisted of 8 films for two campaigns. The team incorporated editing, colour grading, captioning and animation to effectively convey complex technical information about flood behaviour, flood history, and current day and future impacts. Notable the campaign highlighted the vulnerability of over 40 caravan parks, emphasising flood preparedness.

DEPARTMENTAL MANAGEMENT AUDIT (DMA)

The course educates personnel about auditing fundamentals and the DMA cycle of report ing and it’s importance to the assurance of Fleet seaworthiness . The course assists auditors develop their capability to perform audits that are valid, impartial and effective. It successful completion is a mandatory requirement of DMA auditor accreditation.
